Berlin-based Fairmas, which provides financial planning and analysis (FP&A), controlling and management reporting software for hospitality, has appointed Frithjof Niessen as Chief Product Officer. He joins the executive leadership team and will lead the company's product strategy and innovation roadmap.
Background
Niessen began his career in hotel operations, spending nearly a decade there before joining Fairmas in 2015 as a Product Manager. Since then he has played a key role in the company's product evolution, including the launch of the FairPlanner web application, and helped build and expand the product management team. Fairmas says that operational background shapes his customer-first approach.
"I'm two months into the role, but eleven years into Fairmas, so this isn't a cold start," Niessen says. His priority, he adds, is to keep delivering software "that make[s] hotel financial planning faster, more intuitive, and more valuable for our customers."
Responsibilities
As CPO, Niessen is responsible for the strategic direction of Fairmas products, which support more than 5,500 hotels and over 18,000 users worldwide. His focus areas include accelerating innovation, improving the customer experience and advancing intelligent capabilities, including AI where it adds meaningful value.
The finance team challenge
Fairmas notes that hotels face growing data volumes, faster planning cycles and higher expectations for timely financial insight. "Customers don't simply want more reports. They want meaningful insights that help them make better decisions with confidence," Niessen says. The aim is to simplify FP&A and make information easier to access when it is needed.
Looking ahead
Niessen wants Fairmas products to help customers uncover insights more proactively, while "delivering innovation without compromising the reliability our customers depend on every day." He says customers and partners can expect more innovation, with investment focused on making the products faster and more intuitive.
Fairmas describes the appointment as part of its ongoing investment in product excellence for hotel owners, operators and finance professionals.
