Protect Group has published a case study on its work with Super.com, a San Francisco-based savings and earning app founded in 2016 that operates across travel and fintech.
The challenge
Super.com wanted a flexible, high-performing alternative to traditional travel insurance. Its customers wanted refundability without complexity, and the business wanted a product that raised checkout confidence, fitted its mobile-first booking flow and cut customer service workload through fast, automated refunds.
The approach
Super.com integrated Refund Protect into its hotel and flight booking flow. According to the case study, the work involved:
- an initial consultation with Super.com's product and growth teams on how refundability could reduce checkout hesitation;
- front-end placement through Super.com's existing UI components, optimised for mobile and conversion;
- ongoing sharing of performance data, customer insights and pricing recommendations;
- integration support and monitoring of the early rollout across device types;
- iterative placement improvements before rollout to all customers.
Protect Group's AI-driven Smart Pricing and automated refund application process supported the product.
Reported results
Protect Group reports that Refund Protect volume grew 200% and sales rose more than 100% between November 2024 and November 2025, and that more than $50 million in protected booking value was generated, making it one of Super.com's most impactful ancillary products.
Aaron Black, Staff Product Manager at Super.com, said traditional insurance "didn't meet" customer expectations and that Protect Group offered "an easy, low-friction way to add refundability, improve checkout confidence, and reduce support burden."
What's next
Super.com has agreed a five-year partnership to keep offering Refund Protect and has recently started using Protect Group's Smart Pricing methodology to lift conversion and revenue.
Takeaway for hotel distributors
The case shows how a native, mobile-optimised refundability option can serve as an ancillary revenue line while reducing support demand.
