Cayman Airways, the national flag carrier of the Cayman Islands, has partnered with Protect Group to offer Refund Protect, allowing passengers to upgrade their booking with enhanced refund terms at checkout. The announcement was made from Leeds, UK, on 2 September 2026.
Network-wide availability
Refund Protect will be available across all Cayman Airways routes and markets and with all accepted forms of payment, giving a consistent experience for travel to, from and within the Cayman Islands. It is offered on the airline's website and will also be available in the Cayman Airways mobile app.
Integration via Sabre
The launch runs through Cayman Airways' Sabre-powered digital booking environment. Sabre is one of Protect Group's integration partners, allowing Refund Protect to be embedded in the booking flow in a simple, scalable way.
How it works
Refund Protect lets customers request a refund if they cannot travel due to unforeseen circumstances as set out in the terms. Protect Group manages the whole service, from applications and customer support to payout, so the airline adds the option without extra operational complexity. It also creates a new ancillary revenue opportunity.
What the partners say
Paul Tibbetts, Executive Vice President and CFO at Cayman Airways, says customers fly "for business, vacations, family visits and some of life's most important moments," and Refund Protect gives them "greater flexibility when they book, and added reassurance should qualifying unexpected circumstances affect their plans."
Stuart Barclay, CRO at Protect Group, calls the launch "a strong example of how Refund Protect can be deployed across an airline's full route network and customer channels, including both web and app."
Industry context
The companies note a growing focus across aviation on reducing booking anxiety and giving customers more choice at checkout.
