VIP Hospitality Group runs hotels, B&Bs and other hospitality businesses across Oregon and Washington. Its 13 properties, 11 of them independent, range from an eight-room B&B to a 100-room branded hotel. A Stayntouch customer story explains how Regional Director Stephen Davis, who oversees revenue management, inventory and technology configuration, led the move to Stayntouch PMS.
Why VIP changed
Davis had nearly two decades of experience with the previous PMS, which had once served the business well. Over time it struggled with bugs, integrations and the shift from on-premise to hosted, and VIP faced pressure to abandon the card processor it had used successfully for years.
A careful search
The team looked at roughly two dozen PMS providers. Requirements included ease of use, strong revenue management and reporting, cloud delivery and enough built-in functionality to avoid stitching together extra systems, plus control over configuration. "We really like the ability to customize our setups as much as possible," Davis says. Stayntouch offered native group features, revenue management and reporting while allowing property-specific setups.
A phased rollout
With a small internal team, VIP implemented over a little more than a year, usually one or two hotels at a time, pairing simpler properties and giving complex ones their own rollout. Lessons from early sites shaped later ones, and Stayntouch provided onsite training at several hotels. Davis praises the team's accessibility and expertise.
One screen for the portfolio
VIP particularly values the multi-property dashboard. "We like being able to see all the properties on one screen," Davis says. Staff who work across properties don't need to relearn systems, and access to extra hotels is easy to add.
Open API and payment choice
When VIP wanted tools without existing integrations, it worked directly with Stayntouch's API team to connect Pulse and Snapfix. Through a gateway, VIP also returned to its preferred credit card processor, keeping a relationship and rates that work for the business.
Takeaway
For a diverse portfolio, VIP's experience shows the value of strong native functionality combined with the flexibility to configure, integrate and choose payment partners.
